13 Days Best of Africa safari tour itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi
Clients arrive to Nairobi according to their flights. Met and greeted by our customer care team. Transfer to city hotel. Overnight at Ole Sereni Hotel or similar
Day 2 – Shaba Game Reserve
Drive across the Great Rift Valley and then past Mount Kenya to Shaba Game Reserve. This Reserve is situated in the dry area of Northern Kenya, where the nomad tribes, the Samburus, the Rendilles and the Boran live. After lunch you will encounter the amazing landscape of the Shaba Game Reserve. Dinner and overnight in Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar (FB) www.sopalodges.com
Day 3 – Samburu Game Reserve
Full day game drives in this beautiful area known for its greve Zebras and the Gerenuk Gazelles. You then take a game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro river, the only source of water for this dry Park. Dinner and overnight in Samburu Sopa Lodge. (FB) or similar www.sopalodges.com
Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park
After early breakfast, drive to the Lake Nakuru national Park for lunch and afternoon game drive in the park as we visit the lake with its pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, bright flamingos, herons, ostriches and eagles. Lunch will be at the lodge
There’s plenty of big game here, but also, uniquely, the park is home to a large population of black and white rhino at its protected sanctuary. We’ll be watching for these immense beasts but also zebra, hippo, baboon, and monkey. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 5: Masai Mara Game reserve
An early morning game drive will enable you see more animals like waterbuck, hyena, cheetah, and buffalo. After breakfast, drive to the famous reserve in the world called Masai Mara game reserve. Arrive in time for lunch, we shall drive to the lodge with game drive enroute in the vast rolling savannahs of the reserve
The park boasts one of the highest densities of wildlife anywhere. And besides Africa’s Big Five, you’ll find many other wildlife species on these rolling hills, over 90 types of mammals. After lunch and a short siesta, enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of all the big five animals which are plenty here. Dinner and Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar
Day 6: Masai Mara game reserve
Today you shall have full day game drives in the reserve which is home to huge numbers of wildlife. Our day will be filled with unlimited game drives with all meals in the lodge. You will have options of other activities like a visit to the local Maasai people. You can see how they live, their customs, ceremonies and buy some souvenirs from them. You may also choose to do a truly unforgettable experience of early morning balloon safari over the reserve. There is nothing like watching the dawn break over the reserve, lighting up the acacia trees and seeing wildlife stirring into the new day. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar
Day 7: Serengeti Game Reserve
After breakfast, collect picnic lunches and drive to Serengeti Game Reserve for full day game drives. The legendary Serengeti Plain is your destination today, a vast rolling plain whose sparse vegetation allows for some of the best wildlife viewing in the world. Throughout the year the Serengeti is excellent for seeing predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah, along with elephant, giraffe, hyena, hippo, rhino, and many varieties of antelopes and birds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch as you drive North of Serengeti. The evening is free to rest. Enjoy your picnic lunches in the reserve. Dinner and Overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge or similar
Day 8: Serengeti Game Reserve
Today we enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the Serengeti landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, including more than three million large mammals. The park is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. Depending with wildlife movement at different times, we may serve picnic lunch at a picnic site or take hot lunch from our lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge or similar
Day 9: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, collect picnic lunches and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for game drives in the crater. Enjoy your picnic lunches in the crater. Descend into the crater (600m) for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive Eco-system. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. These drives provide one of the best opportunities in Africa to view the rare black rhino, which tend to spend their time on the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to the hippo pools on the crater floor. Continue with the game drive throughout the various ecosystems of the crater, including woodland filled with zebra and baboon, plains that support scavenging hyena and a lake that is tinted pink with greater and lesser flamingos. Day 10: Tarangire National Reserve
After breakfast set off on safari with your private car and driver to Tarangire National Park. Named for the river that nourishes the wildlife of a vast ecosystem, Tarangire is home to elephant, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo, eland, waterbuck, lion, giraffe, onyx and an unsurpassed diversity of birds. From June to November, masses of wildlife congregate around the river, but the park is a stronghold for big game year-round. Take your first game drive before retiring to your beautifully designed lodge, hidden among ancient baobab trees and giant rock kopjes within the park. Day 11: Amboseli National Park
Early morning drive with picnic lunches to Amboseli national park for afternoon game drive enroute to the lodge. The Mount Kilimanjaro great summit stands at the park’s southern vista and is welcoming landmark seen throughout the reserve. We’ll take an easy game drive in this park known for its immense herds of elephants. This is possibly the best spot in Africa to view these noble giants, with sightings guaranteed. The park is also known for its easy animal spotting, so we’ll hopefully have a busy afternoon. Toward evening the clouds surrounding Kilimanjaro’s peak may part revealing its snowy summit. This is a perfect moment for photographs and a time to appreciate all the wonder that surrounds us. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar
Day 12: Tsavo East National park
Early morning game drive to catch the unfolding drama of the wildlife. This is the best time to view Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, its majestic peak watching out over the park. Later, after a full safari breakfast, we’ll do a bit more game watching as we exit the park and head upon the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, journeying to Tsavo East National Park for a game drive enroute to the lodge for lunch. Tsavo East national park, with its endless horizons and wild, rugged grasslands, offers endless opportunities for a memorable experience with abundant wildlife.
The land here is open, making animal spotting an easier and relaxed experience. Look for lion, but also leopard, Cape buffalo, and the park’s great, red elephants, called so because they roll in the rusty-colored soil found here. Afternoon game drive will be the game changer s you view animals. Dinner and overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge or similar
Day 13: Mombasa
We’ll be up early to make the most of our game driving time. Traveling over the open savannah country here is an exhilarating experience and there’s nothing like the first animal sighting of the day. We shall visit the park’s famous watering holes which are the attractive spots, made even more compelling by the sight of the many animals drawn to the life-giving waters found here. Look for zebra, giraffe but also eland, impala and some of the park’s 500 species of birds. After lunch, drive back to your coastal hotel
