Day 2: Tsavo West National Park
Early morning drive to the Tsavo West National Park which is one of the largest parks in Kenya. We shall proceed on the savannah searching for large and small game – the park features the “Big Five”, including a large elephant population. Proceed on a morning game drive until lunch time. After lunch, enjoy a short siesta before embarking on an afternoon game drive with a visit to the special rhino sanctuary where we shall track these immense but shy creatures. Dinner and overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge or similar
Day 3: Amboseli National Park
Early morning game drive before sunrise is a good opportunity to view animals in their natural habitat. We shall return to the lodge for breakfast and collect our luggage as we proceed to Amboseli national park with another game drive enroute as we visit one of the park’s more unusual spots, Mzima Springs, a verdant oasis fed by millions of gallons of crystal water. We’ll be able to explore on foot along the raffia-shaded shores and find close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, colourful fish, and migratory birds. This place is a respite for the park’s thirsty animals so you may also find monkeys, baboons and others frequenting this nourishing spot.
After the visit, drive to Amboseli national park which is a 2-hour drive. Here, we measure time and distance by the appearance of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. The great summit stands at the park’s southern vista and is welcoming landmark seen throughout the reserve. We’ll take an easy game drive in this park known for its immense herds of elephants. This is possibly the best spot in Africa to view these noble giants, with sightings guaranteed. The park is also known for its easy animal spotting, so we’ll hopefully have a busy afternoon. Toward evening the clouds surrounding Kilimanjaro’s peak may part revealing its snowy summit. This is a perfect moment for photographs and a time to appreciate all the wonder that surrounds us.
You will arrive at your lodge for your buffet lunch and a short siesta. Later, we shall depart for an afternoon game drive with excellent views of the mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar
Day 4: Tsavo East National Park
Early morning game drive to catch the unfolding drama of the wildlife. This is the best time to view Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, its majestic peak watching out over the park. Later, after a full safari breakfast, we’ll do a bit more game watching as we exit the park and head upon the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, journeying to Tsavo East National Park for a game drive enroute to the lodge for lunch. Tsavo East national park, with its endless horizons and wild, rugged grasslands, offers endless opportunities for a memorable experience with abundant wildlife.
The land here is open, making animal spotting an easier and relaxed experience. Look for lion, but also leopard, Cape buffalo, and the park’s great, red elephants, called so because they roll in the rusty-coloured soil found here. Afternoon game drive will be the game changer s you view animals. Dinner and overnight at Voi Wildlife Lodge or similar
Day 5: Mombasa / Diani
We’ll be up early to make the most of our game driving time. Traveling over the open savannah country here is an exhilarating experience and there’s nothing like the first animal sighting of the day.
We shall visit the park’s famous watering holes which are the attractive spots, made even more compelling by the sight of the many animals drawn to the life-giving waters found here. Look for zebra, giraffe but also eland, impala and some of the park’s 500 species of birds. After lunch, drive back to your coastal hotel
