12 Days Gems of Egypt tour itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Upon arrival in Cairo airport, you will be met and greeted by our team and transferred to the hotel in our air-conditioned vehicle. After the check-in, you will have a brief meeting to review your holiday program. Overnight at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa or similar in Cairo

Day 2: Pyramids & Sakkara tours

After breakfast, drive to the Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza: Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinus, the famous Sphinx and Valley Temple facing the great statue. You may proceed to visit the Solar Boat just in front of Cheops Pyramid (extra entry cost). You will have your lunch in one of the local restaurants. After lunch, proceed to Sakkara area to visit Sakkara Complex and the 1^st pyramid ever built called Djoser Pyramid. Later, proceed to Memphis which is the Old Kingdom’s capital and famous Necropolis. Overnight at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa or similar in Cairo.

Day 3: Cairo Sightseeing tours

After breakfast, start touring Al Darb Al Ahmar, south of Cairo’s city walls between Bab Zuweila and the Citadel, Salah El Din Citadel, the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, Sultan Hassan Mosque and Madrasa, the 3^rd largest Mosque of Ahmed Ibn Tulun. Overnight at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa or similar in Cairo.

Day 4: Fayoum / El Minya

After breakfast, drive for about 60 kms to Fayoum to visit Lake Qaroun, the National park of Wadi Rayan to see the Water Falls, Gabal Al Modawara and the Wales Cemetery. You will enjoy your picnic Lunch in this area. Proceed to El Minya for overnight. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: El Minya tours

After breakfast, you will visit the necropolis of Tuna El Gabal which has many crypts of baboons and Ibis that represent the god Thoth, the tomb of Isadora, the tomb of the priest Pet-osiers, the old water wheel and the boundary stele of the city of the Aton. Proceed to Al Ashmunien which was the ancient city of Hermopolis to see the open museum with the 2 huge baboon statues and the ruins of the basilica church. Later, proceed to the site of Beni Hasan on the Nile East bank. Overnight at Grand Aton Hotel or similar.

Day 6: Amarna / Assuit / Abydous

After breakfast, drive to Tell Al Amarna which was the capital of Akhnaton to visit the city, the northern and the southern tombs, the palace ruins, temples and finally the royal tomb. Proceed to Assuit city to visit Al Muharraq Monastery which is some 48 kms to the north of Assiut.  Proceed to Meir Village which was the functioning cemetery for Cusae. Later, proceed to Abydos. Overnight at Abydous.

Day 7: Abydos / Dandara / Luxor

After breakfast, visit Fortress Shonet El Zebeeb, the temple of Seti the 1^st which is considered as the most beautiful temple in Egypt. It was built by Seti I and finished by his son Ramesses II after his father’s death. You will have your lunch in one of the local restaurants. Later, proceed to the complex of Dandara temple to see Hatour Temple, the goddess of love, music and dancing.  Proceed to Luxor. Overnight at Sonesta St. George Hotel in Luxor.

Day 8: Luxor tours

After breakfast, you will be transferred to board your cruise for relaxation and lunch. Proceed to the East Bank to visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak. Dinner and overnight on board the MS Salacia Nile cruise in Luxor

Day 9: West Bank / Edfu

After breakfast, proceed to the West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings and Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

Continue sailing to Edfu via Esna with your lunch and afternoon tea on board. Dinner and overnight on board the cruise in Edfu.

Day 10: Kom Ombo tours

After breakfast, you will visit Horus Temple in Edfu. You will have your lunch and afternoon tea on board as you sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Temple of Kom Ombo which is shared by 2 gods Sobek and Haeroris. Later, continue sailing to Aswan. Dinner and Overnight on board the cruise in Aswan.

Day 11: Aswan tours

After breakfast, visit the High Dam, Philae Temple and Unfinished Obelisk. You will have your lunch and afternoon tea on board as you enjoy the sunset views. Dinner and Overnight on board the cruise in Aswan.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, you will disembark from the cruise and transfer to Aswan Airport for your domestic flight to Cairo to connect on your international flight or have an overnight in Cairo at extra cost.
