9 Days Masai trail safari tour itinerary

Day 1: Aberdares National Reserve

We will drive through Kenya highlands with views of tea and coffee plantations and on to Outspan hotel/Mount Kenya Safari Club in Nyeri for lunch. After lunch we leave Outspan/Mount Kenya Safari Club and drive to Treetops Hotel/Lodge located in the heart of Aberdares National Park for night game viewing. Both Treetops Lodge and The Ark are built in an area with a waterhole and a saltlick that is frequented by wildlife day and night. Dinner & overnight at Treetops Hotel or similar.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, drive to the Lake Nakuru national Park for afternoon game drive in the park as we visit the lake with its pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, bright flamingos, herons, ostriches and eagles. There’s plenty of big game here, but also, uniquely, the park is home to a large population of black and white rhino at its protected sanctuary. We’ll be watching for these immense beasts but also zebra, hippo, baboon, and monkey. Lunch in the lodge. Followed by another afternoon game drive in the park. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or similar.

Day 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Early departure for the famous reserve in the world called Masai Mara game reserve. Arrive in time for lunch, we shall drive to the lodge with game drive enroute in the vast rolling savannahs of the reserve

The park boasts one of the highest densities of wildlife anywhere. And besides Africa’s Big Five, you’ll find many other wildlife species on these rolling hills, over 90 types of mammals. After lunch and a short siesta, enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of all the big five animals which are plenty here. Dinner and Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Today you shall have full day game drives in the reserve which is home to huge numbers of wildlife. Our day will be filled with unlimited game drives with all meals in the lodge. You will have options of other activities like a visit to the local Maasai people. You can see how they live, their customs, ceremonies and buy some souvenirs from them. You may also choose to do a truly unforgettable experience of early morning balloon safari over the reserve. There is nothing like watching the dawn break over the reserve, lighting up the acacia trees and seeing wildlife stirring into the new day. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar

Day 5: Nairobi

Early morning gamed drive in the reserve will be your last chance to see any remaining animals. After breakfast, you will drive to Nairobi. Afternoon Leisure in the hotel. Overnight at Ole Sereni Hotel or similar on Bed & breakfast

Day 6: Amboseli National Park

Early morning drive to Amboseli national park. The mount Kilimanjaro stands at the park’s southern vista and is welcoming landmark seen throughout the reserve. We’ll take an easy game drive in this park known for its immense herds of elephants. This is possibly the best spot in Africa to view these noble giants, with sightings guaranteed. The park is also known for its easy animal spotting, so we’ll hopefully have a busy afternoon. Toward evening the clouds surrounding Kilimanjaro’s peak may part revealing its snowy summit. This is a perfect moment for photographs and a time to appreciate all the wonder that surrounds us.

You will arrive at your lodge for your buffet lunch and a short siesta. Later, we shall depart for an afternoon game drive with excellent views of the mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar

Day 7: Amboseli National Park

Early morning game drive to catch the unfolding drama of the wildlife. This is the best time to view Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, its majestic peak watching out over the park. Later, after a full safari breakfast. You will have a morning game drive until lunchtime returning to the lodge for your lunch. After lunch enjoy a short siesta before departing for another afternoon opportunity for a memorable experience with abundant wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge or similar

Day 8: Taita Hills Sanctuary

Early morning drive along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway on a picturesque drive, enjoying the scenery on the way to arrive at Taita Hills Sanctuary. This is a privately-owned wildlife sanctuary where we shall be tracking the big game like lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe and smaller wildlife such as gazelle, impala, and dik-dik. Dinner and overnight at Bluff Lodge or Sarova Taita Hills Lodge or similar

Day 9: Mombasa/ Diani

Early morning game drive in the sanctuary to watch the wildlife come awake and enjoy the early morning light over the sanctuary’s green hills. Return to the lodge for your buffet breakfast. After breakfast, we shall have a morning game drive for an opportunity to view more of our favorite animals and perhaps to spot others for the first time. Exit the sanctuary and drive back to your coastal hotel. You will have lunch enroute
